F55/F56 Google Map Send to Car
Google Map Send to Car
Ok so I switched to google map classic and was able to send the destination to my car as it said 'sent successfully'. I went to my car, connected Mini Connected App but I couldn't find anything. I also tried to see if I can see the destinations that I sent from google map in Nav but nothing.
Please let me know how I should go about retrieving the destination sent from google map once I'm in the car. Sorry for the dumb question!

subscribe as I not have been able to figure out this either.
I also recall the Mini USA site saying that we would also now have an email address we could send and address to that would "go to" our mini via the app however this does not appear to be listed on the site any longer.

Overall the MINI Connected is very underwhelming to me. I don't find it useful at all.
This is likely due to Google "temporarily" dropping the feature. I expect it will come back eventually.

FYI the new Google Maps has reinstated the Send to Car feature, you just need to configure your Mini's account name like you did before. Now that we have that back from Google....what's the hold up on fixing the darned APP?

The app has been a big disappointment.
I'm sure it'll show up in the next update of the app.....
but in the mean time how does this work? I looked it up online and it says to click the balloon on the map then click more, send, and choose car then pick mini and put in your connected name and click send....
none of that works for me. so how do you get to the send option in google maps (I have an iphone 4s)

The menu used to be there under the classic google map view but I see that they took that off too. I guess we won't be able to use this feature for now.
Are they serious???

Or is there another update mechanism?
I just wrote MINI USA, asking when Send To Car will return to MINI Connected. Here is their reply . . .
Thanks for writing MINI regarding the removal of the MINI Connected Send2Car feature.
The Send2Car feature is no longer available on MINI Connected. Please know that the decision to discontinue a service is never an easy one. MINI USA and our partners take several factors into consideration, including low usage and changes to service providers.

Mini Connected is so over rated!!! I don't find it useful at all.
So far, I have to agree with those who think that MINI Connected isn't impressive. I wonder why MINI doesn't just use phones merely as an Internet connection device, rather than baking apps into the phone.
Having the app on the phone launched and the whole "connection" thing is clunky. I'd imagine from an efficiency perspective as well, MINI would only want to update 1 piece of SW (the iDrive software) rather than multiple platform software.
Mini connected can be a web portal only (no dedicated app on a mobile device), where you can sign in, and each time the phone is connected to the car via a USB / whatever other connection cable, it will use the phone's connectivity to connect to the web portal and download / integrate information into the car's SW. Nothing needs to be running on the phone. Upon car shutdown, a quick connection to upload info from the car up to the portal. Again I'm sure there are pitfalls I haven't thought of because I'm not a SW engineer.
Simpler is better.

Here's to hoping MINI releases Apple CarPlay and Android Car updates so we can kick Connected to the curb.
FYI even since Google got Send to Car in the new Maps, I can now get my destinations to my iPhone Mini Connected App and they show up (2.6 of the app) but when I plug into the car and go to Send to Car I get a Database Not Available problem.
