Hey all!

I'm new the MINI world! I have a lease on a Chevy that's ending on August and am really interested in getting myself into the new F56! I've been in discussions with a local dealer and had him put a quote together for me, but he says that black roof/mirror caps are currently unavailable...

Has anyone else heard this? Does anyone know why this is?

 

There's a delay in production on contrasting roof/mirror caps right now. I haven't seen a definitive answer as to the cause.

It wouldn't surprise me if they've stopped even allowing orders.

There is a similar delay/block with the HK radio upgrade.

 

There is a delay in production on Mini's ordered with contrasting roof/mirrors (not just black, white as well), but its not unavailable... we've had members of the forum get recent deliveries with contrasting roofs.

You'll see it says 'restriction on...capacity' not unavailable.

 

Thanks, guys! I'm not sure why my dealer would tell me that its unavailable, then. Maybe he's just trying to push my sale

 

It was explained to me that the black roof/mirror option was what was causing the issue. The factory was having a problem with the quality of the black paint (made by a third party, not BMW) To maintain quality control, production was limited on all contrasting colors while they tried to solve the issue. The dealers can still order cars with the color contrast, but they are only allowed a few per month. My dealer has assured me my car with white roof/mirrors was ordered before their monthly cutoff. Only time will tell...

 

I was at a dealer today and he told me they were reworking part of the paint production line and that is why they could only do body color roofs until Jun build. He also told me that a Jun order for July build would deliver a 2015 car so I think we will wait. We're not in a hurry.
