F55/F56 Ecstatic...
Ecstatic...
.... to be joining the Mini fraternity, finally.
Being a car enthusiast I've followed the various generations and incarnations of this wonderful car and finally, with the F56 I am happy to say I've been won over. I nearly crossed over after a 2012 MCS test drive, but after sampling the new base Cooper I am so glad I held off.
Yes that's right - it's the base Cooper with the sparkling 3 cylinder that has captured me. I always assumed (coming from a Stage 1+ 2012 GTI, a MX5 before that.... even an Audi TTS) that a Cooper S would be the only Mini that would fulfill. But then I started reading some reviews about the 1.5 litre and my interest was piqued (a driving.ca article where the reviewer mentions adding a performance pipe comes to mind). A spirited test drive, including letting the salesperson (track experience) take the wheel was enough
That low end torque coupled with the sport mode driving select setting was blissful for a city driver such as I! I also really like the stop/start as there are days when I'm moving at snail's pace in Vancouver traffic.
I now have a blazing red Cooper on order with all the essential goodies (dynamic chassis control, Harmon Kardon,LED package, large Nav screen etc). It may well be a 100 day wait for the car but the chat on this forum and all you nice folk will help me pass the time with a smile on my face
Signed Diana, happy to be crossing over to driving Nirvana
PS- You Cooper S owners, watch out for me -after a year or two my sweet sounding lil turbo will be tuned and be chasing your tails!

Welcome to NAM Diana, and here's hoping your Cooper arrives ASAP. I've had my R56 since 2007, and it's time to upgrade. But I'm holding back a bit until I can see some colors and interiors in person in Scottsdale or Tempe. I will get one though no doubt about it.
Not be be a Diana downer, but she said she is ordering the BASE Cooper?
The 3 cyl model?
Isn't this the non-turbo model?
If so, after two years she says the turbo will be sounding sweet?
I'm confused!
Can we add the turbo to the BASE model now?

Oh, good to know.
And no intention to be hurtful here.
So unlike OUR base models before, the new F series has turbo in the justa, s, and the future JCW?
I should get my reading glasses out.

I'm heading back to the Gen2 section now, I knew I should not venture into the new world!

Thanks for the nice welcome!
Bubba, don't be shamed! Promise me you will test drive the justa Cooper - or at least read this:
