F55/F56 Order done - MCS 6MT in BRG
Order done - MCS 6MT in BRG
Well, that didn't take long!!! Got back home from a winter in the S.Cal on Mar 20, joined this NAM Forum on Mar 22, and put in an order this morning for a new F56. I was debating between keeping my 2012 BMW 135i, getting a new BMW M235i or getting a new MCS. The new BMW M235i is a great new car for BMW, unfortunately it's price and my objectives did not mesh. My objectives were to have fun-to-drive car, some practicality (small dog in back), winter capable, and not spend a ton of new dollars. Also, it may be my last "fun" car before my wife and I go to one vehicle in about 3 years (maybe).
I was going to keep my 2012 135i but I would have spent money on a perf exhaust and maybe a tune (dollars which one usually does not get back on sale or trade). Besides, I would argue that the MCS w 6MT is more fun to drive than the 135i is. I had driven a Gen 2 MCS last year and passed on it. However, the new F56 just hit all the buttons for me, and I am on my way to my first MINI ever. My wife had an original MINI in the mid-70s, and she is excited to be getting this car as well.
The order is F56 MCS 6MT in BRG on Dark Truffle Punch leather and Dark Truffle color line inside. It has Black Roof and Mirror Caps. It has the Loaded Pkg (in Canada) which includes Dynamic Dampers, Comfort Access, Auto-Dim Interior Mirror, Armrest, Rain Sensor & Auto Headlamps, Auto Climate Control, Pano Sunroof, Heated Seats, Front and Rear Fogs. It also has the LED Lights pkg, 17" Cosmos Spoke Black wheels, Perf Tires, Anthracite Roofliner, and Storage Compart. Pkg.
It does NOT have Nav, nor any of the "nannies" available. Since my hearing is poor, I passed on HK sound and the other audio features. I will listen to the engine and the pop/burble of the exhaust in SPORT mode..!!
I am actually quite excited about this car; far more than I have been in the last few years over a series of BMWs. I am well aware of some historical reliability issues in Gens 1 and 2; but being retired now, have time to deal with "things". Late on, I will get four winter tires and dedicated winter wheels in the 16" size.
That's about it. I am enjoying this Forum in the brief time I have been on here. Several members have been helpful to me in posts, and private PMs, and I appreciate that.
Now the wait begins, but fortunately I will out of the country from late April to end of May, so by the time I get back, the car should be getting close (at least 3 to 5 weeks, hopefully).
Thanks for reading this longish post, I am a happy senior camper today.

Ha! Awesome! Congratulations! Your configuration is very close to mine. Same BRG paint, black roof/side mirrors, black Cosmos wheels, same interior, etc. If you were closer, we could meet up and WOW the world. LOL! You're going to love it. I pick mine up next week. So I'm a happy senior camper, too.

Amazing coincidence, that they are so much the same configuration..!!??
For all Forum members except Bob, I did a blatant copy of Bob's exterior/interior color/materials. He did such a great job that I could not better it (except I did not get the hood stripes). And I did PM Bob to tell him that imitation is the best form of flattery. Thanks, Bob.
Add another BRG II F56 manual to the list with a lot of the same features you listed! I have been mostly a lurker since most of the questions I had were answered in the current threads. But I look forward to contributing more to the forum in the future. It's 6-8 weeks for me here in NJ.

Bit of a concern on my order this morning, and I will post what happened here for the benefit of other Canadians ordering the F56 S.
I ordered Truffle leather and Truffle color line. My dealer told me yesterday that in Canada, when Truffle leather is ordered, MINI Canada insisted on the Style Package being added. The Style Pkg is comprised of chrome surrounds, two outside on front and rear, and several inside on the dash. I do NOT want the Style Pkg under any circumstance as IMO it adds un-needed chrome, which I find ugly. In the end, the dealer requested and received confirmation from MINI that, for this car, the Style Pkg could be deleted with the Truffle leather, and the interior trim will be Black Chequered (which is fine with me). I was prepared to change the seating color/material if I could not get rid of the Style Pkg. The fact that I have bought 7 cars from this dealer probably helped motivate him to get MINI to make that exception.
It seemed to be a problem only with the Truffle leather, other colors (Black) and materials (cloth/leather) are not affected. Just so you know.

Resolved my order, but not without some changes so that the car gets built in a reasonable time frame. The Dark Truffle leather seats and Dark Truffle Color Line was triggering the additional of the Style Package in order to get Piano Black trim. I don't want the Style Pkg under any circumstance. Also, MINI wanted $400 fee for Special Order to have the black trim without the Style Pkg. I said no way. Then I changed seats to Carbon Black leather and eliminated the Color Line totally. That got rid of both the Style Pkg and the $400 fee. At one point, it seemed the Contrasting black roof and caps was also causing a production delay. Now, it is resolved and I have a June production date (May is totally full) so end of July delivery. Long enough but up to 3 months is still reasonable. I am just a happy with the Carbon Black leather as I was with the Dark Truffle, so not a biggie to make the change. That should finish it, and I go away on a trip now for a month so that means only up to 60 days to wait on my return. Overall, it's worked out, and my SA was great. Very helpful.
Style Pkg, in Canada at least, is chrome surrounds on some of dash gauge pods, chrome surrounds on the front area below the bumper, and chrome on the rear fog lights area. I did not want any more chrome than is already on the car.
BTW, as amended, I get the Black Chequered dash trim now, which is acceptable to me. It is the default dash trim in Canada.
I think you are right. But, there was no way I wanted those bits of chrome. I am perfectly happy with the Black Chequered trim.
Just returned home after being away a month, and totally out of touch with most computer forums, including this MINI one. Ordered my F56 MCS on April 23, and have not heard anything at this point. I will be dropping by the dealers shop tomorrow to see if there is any updates. I was slated for June production.
I note of a number of NAM members have rec'd their cars, and all is well (relatively speaking).

I have a Production Number and am scheduled for a Week 26 build. Sounds like late June for build, so delivery not until late July, early Aug at best. Does that jibe with recent delivery times? Does 30 to 45 days from Build to Delivery sound reasonable based on recent experiences?
