Possible engine failure

I have a huge problem, and looking for some advice. Please excuse any faux pas as I have never posted to a website like this before. I have a 2015 2 door Mini hardtop. One day about three and a half weeks ago the engine light came on. The next day I heard a rattling from under the engine. I looked it up and from my research it seemed that it could be a camshaft or camshaft sensors? I called the dealership, made an appointment, and brought up there several days later. I was a mile away from the dealership when the car stopped running. I tried to restart but the engine would not turn over. After three and a half weeks of the dealership working on the car putting in a new computer as they thought it was a computer issue they now think it might be an internal engine failure. I have approximately 110,000 miles on my car. Does this sound normal? Unfortunately I am upside down on my loan and I'm kind of in a screwed-up spot right now they're not doing much in the way of helping and I'm not sure what I would expect them to do just looking for some advice and or guidance if anybody has any words of wisdom.
