Sport Auto Transmission shifting issues

Hello, been a while since I've had to post here since my R53 jcw days

I bought a 2017 Jcw, for the first time in I went for a Sport Auto transmission with the paddles (the shifting sound was addictive). Recently I had an issue where under load (close to red-line) the transmission would stop responding to the shifts from the paddles. A few times now after quick acceleration my mini will not respond to input from the paddles, and a few times while shifting up the Head Up Display would indicate a shifting down instead without me feeling an actual transmission shifting.

95% of the time the car will work fine but that hand full of times when you punch the gas the car will react funny by the shifting getting completely confused and not responding. If i let off the gas throw it back in full Auto then back to sport auto it will be okay again, sometimes it could take a few tries but in general will always work it self out at the end.

I never drove auto in personal cars I'm not sure if anyone has experienced this before with their either an F56 JCW Sport Auto transmission or any other Sport Automatic Models?

again it's the 2017 so before the new refresh that came out in 2019.

Thank you all!
B.

I've had maybe something similar happen while driving my 2017 F56 JCW as well. Going off the HUD RPM nearing red line under full throttle 1->2 the first time 2->3 the second (not on the same pull/run) going to up shift via paddles and nothing happens and I bounce off the red line 2-3 times and then shift. The 2nd time it happened I noticed the traction control system kick in. Possible correlation maybe?

very possible. Ill keep an eye on that. Only mine was stuck infinitely until I would exit sport auto to full auto and come back in the car would remain in that confused state for a while.

Thanks for the feedback.
