Can I use 225/45R18 OEM tires/wheels on '17 Clubman S that has currently has 225/45R1

Hi everybody,

Excited about our, new-to-us, '17 Clubman S All4 that is arriving next wk and connecting with you all. Need some quick expert help

My wife doesn't like the black alloy wheels that come with the 2017 Clubman S. She likes silver wheels
I've found some used OEM 18 inch silver wheels.

Fitment for 18" OEM wheels are: 7Jx18ET54, so just 1" taller, than the current 2017 Clubman S wheels, 7.5Jx17ET54

Few quick questions for this learned group:
  • Can I put the 225/45R18's on my 2017 Clubman S that originally came with 225/45R17's?(Just 1" taller tire, same tire width)
  • With the 18" being 1" taller in total, will there be any rubbing/hitting struts or cause any tire or turning issues?
Thanks in advance for your help everyone

Just FYI - the black wheels were optional. I have the silver.

The factory 18" wheel/tire which I have on mine - 2016 FWD (All4 hadn't been released yet) has these specs:
18x8
ET57
5x112
66.5mm centerbore

The stock tire on the 18" wheel was a 225/40-18. A 245/45-18 sounds way too big.

I always assumed they were the same on the All4, but ... someone else can confirm.

Thank you for your reply. After reading your reply I realised I had a complete brain fart and had multiple typos in my original thread I meant to write to 225/45, not 245 throughout the question. I have sent made the correction

Do you think a 225/45R18 will be OK & not cause any issues?

thanks

There's a lot of clearance with stock suspension, so I think you'd be okay. But I really don't know.

Oem on the clubman is 18” x 40 x 225. It depends what “issues” are to you. with 44 profile tires, you may rub on hard turns or bumps and for sure your speedometer will be off. Personally, I don’t like to play outside of oem diameters.

I was wondering a similar situation with our 2016 Clubman S, ended up installing Countryman's 225/50/18 with Cinturato P7'S - so far no issues with rubbing while turning or going over speed bumps, haven't had the car full of passengers yet, We tried the Speedo with a phone app and it was accurate, and the car read the new to us TPMS sensors without issues, hoped someone finds this pictures useful - I'll be changing the tires to 225/40/18 eventually, Safe driving
