I Installed the JB4 tuner last night and everything went together with relative ease.
Installation:
The installation document isn't great, the video and PDF don't show all the work involved to install the device. To do the job right you have to remove the battery but they don't prepare you for that.
The sensors plugin easily, note there is an extra pair for the Electronic Waste Gate but it is not utilized on the JB4.
Once you have the intake box and cowl plastic off you need to remove this battery cover:
Now you can remove the battery mount and pull the battery out.
Now you have access to the firewall to run the wire to the OBII Port:
And here is where you can go through:
And on the inside:
I split the cover to maintain a semi-sealed hole.
Then I learned on reassembly that the strut brace should be removed to slide the battery cover in and out.
After install, the car started right up, and the JB4 firmware updated automatically through the phone app. I am really impressed with the speed of the data on the app, very quick to respond.
Nice work, thx for posting! But I guess this answers my question on whether or not that Bluetooth dongle was worth it! Haha
How does it run with the jb4?
The acceleration feels really good, there are two maps/tunes to choose from, +4 psi and +6 psi. There is a noticeable improvement over stock.
The tune can be changed with the dash controls or the app via the Bluetooth dongle. It also gives you control over the exhaust valve via the BC button on the turn signal, it’s really nice to keep it closed.
These install threads are great, thanks for posting. Any other plans for parts to help you get more out of the tune?
Likely not too much, the car has plenty of power but JB4 has the ability to add on Water/Meth and compensate for E85 blends. Once they show functionality for the B48E I wouldn't mind adding on one or the other.
I plan on testing the car's capability in a more extreme environment, there is an open track day in June that we are headed to. The Clubman did great last year so it will be exciting to see how well it does with more power and better tires/pads.
