F54 Little help - wheel/tire fitment question
Little help - wheel/tire fitment question
I’m looking to get some summer wheels and tires for my 2017 F54 all4 S. I was offered a solid deal on a set with non-run flat tires mounted.
My summer set is currently the oem masterpiece wheels so 18”x 225 x 40.
the set I’m looking at is:
19”x 215 x 35.
offset in the front is 44.5, rear is 49, the center bore is correct. They are designed to clear JCW brakes on an F56.
Question is can I run 215 instead of 225? Seems like it’s only 1.6% different for 60 mph and I was told I need 7mm spacers. Is this accurate?
thanks for your help.

According to this calculator the 225/40 R18s are 25.1" diameter, for 804 revs per mile.
The 215/35 R19s would be 24.9" diameter and 810 revs/mile.
So they'd definitely fit in the wheel wells, and the speedometer would be off by 0.74% at all speeds.
My only worry would be wheel damage due to the low profile sidewall (speaking from experience of having a wheel destroyed by a pothole on the OEM combo). With the available suspension travel, this car is not forgiving on rough surfaces.

Thanks for the reply.
From what I read, the 19”s are 0.4” narrower and 0.2” less diameter which represents 0.1” less sidewall. I heard 19” are a rough ride but the tires are not run flat, my 18” are run flat and 40 profile and it’s not a bad ride unless you hit a big pothole.
Im not trying to talk myself into it. Some people would say wider tires for grip, some say smaller wheels for weight or comfort. Partially why I’m confused if fitment is an issue, specially the offset, if it’s going to look weird being narrower or lower profile (even by millimeters), or corner terribly. It’s a family hauler but the wheels are super nice
