F54 Clubman VS Convertible.
Clubman VS Convertible.
I can’t find a thread on this so hopefully it hasn’t been asked multiple times before. I love my f57 Vert and with 40k miles it has been a surprisingly reliable ride. Facing the possibility of installing a hitch for a bike rack, and having to use my wife’s SUV for transferring things like lawn mower, dog, stuff from Lowe’s, etc., I wonder about trading for a Clubman S. I’m hoping some out there have or have had a Clubman and Vert and can compare driving experience, utility, fun, ergonomics of the two, etc. I’m not sure I can get a bike in the Clubman and the few I’ve sat in seem to have a cramped headroom feel, but I’m used to the high roof or open top feel. I’d appreciate any owner-of-both insights.
Haven't had a MINI convertible, but have an R53 and a Miata.
The F54 isn't small and light, but it's very comfortable and quick. Haven't tried dragging the R53 vs. F54, but even with a pulley, I think the F54 might win.
You can definitely fit a bike inside (wheels on)s, and you have options for bikes on the roof or a hitch mounted rack.
I haven't noticed any headroom issues in either MINI, but the Miata does feel a bit claustrophobic with the top up. Maybe make sure the seat is at the bottom of its travel? I can't imagine getting rid of my small cars, but the F54 is a nice ride.

Our MINI cage holds a '06 R52 S and a '15 R60 justa, my co-pilot's ride. She got it to replace an older Buick 4 door and found that it would haul things easier than the old Detroit iron. Look into one of those. Also, she has more fun driving it that the previous motor but the road trips and other fun excursions require wind-in-your-hair motoring.
