Comes up every 5 minutes. Camera works fine. Ideas? Can't find anything on net.

This comes up about every 5 minutes. Camera seems to be working fine. Any ideas? Can't find much when I search the internet.

Mine had this issue after I got rear-ended. The repair shop replaced the camera but the new camera had to be coded. It showed up in black and white until it was coded (had to have esys plus the full psdzdata, some internet wizard did that part for me), then had to reset the stored errors in the camera. After that, no problems.

Same Error Message

Hello,

I am new to Mini (already love it), have a 2019 Clubman JCW and had the backup camera replaced at the Acura dealer where we purchased it. We now have the same Rear View Camera Malfunction message. The dealer swears they called Mini and Mini said there is not reprogramming or coding required. Is this a fix that can be done at home or do I need to take it to Mini?

My son is a Chevy mechanic and can get the Mini software for his diagnostic scanner/tool. Would this help us reprogram or reset the camera?

Thanks in advance for any advice on removing the message.

Hi ! I got mine fixed at Mini ! The fix was some glue applied to the rear camera to keep it in place in its socket.
The issue was caused by the camera having a little play in its socket, at startup the car tries to calibrate the rear-view camera, then it moves a bit so the calibration is invalid, the car tries to calibrate again and this loop continues until it gives up and throws the error "Rear view camera malfunction"

I recommend you check the camera sits firmly in place, and if not you have found your issue !

2019 clubman rear camera error message

I had the same issue. Dealer wanted $1400 to replace it. Ummmm no thanks.... I ended up finding this thread and low and behold discover the camera was loose and rattling around. Remounted it firmly in place and bingo all is good. Really the dealer couldn't figure that out? Ugh. Thanks for the info.
