I love the "Mini" projected puddle light on my F54. While I'm sure it's a cost issue for why Mini didn't do it on the passenger side, but wouldn't it be cool if the passenger side also projected a Mini emblem? Has anyone looked into if it's possible to get the UK market parts and retrofit them on a US Mini? Would there be wiring to do this? I know that sometimes the factory installs a general wiring harness for all models, but would there be a left or right wiring harness depending on country? If there is wiring, what other parts would you need aside from the projector light and replacement mirror cap? I suppose you could drill a hole in the mirror cap instead of replacing it also. Would you need to code anything? Anyone else consider this?

Yes, but is the passenger puddle light the Mini Emblem or just a light?

 

Mine was a BMW corporate Mini Clubman that was special order and was install by Mini. I got the Mini thru the dealer that got it from BMW in South Carolina. I still learning some of things in the car. I only have it for 10 days now. Even the dealer doesn't know any order number for this. BTW it's the Mini Emblem.

Thanks for the info, but this is not what I'm looking for. The puddle light, I'm referring to comes from the mirror (see 5 & 6 on diagram). I have found the part numbers for the RHD version that appears to have the feature which came with the Mini Excitment Package. The part numbers as I looked on RealOEM listed for the US model are one digit different from the UK model which I believe are L or R depending on the application. The next step in my opinion is to see how this is wired in my car on the driver's mirror and then see if it is mirrored on the passenger side. If it looks to be ready for installation, then the last step is to find the parts. Hopefully, if everything is there, no coding will be required.

I think I've answered my question. Pulled the caps off both mirrors. Passenger side is not equipped with either mounting holes or the harness plug/lead necessary to plug in and mount the projector. To retrofit, probably would require UK right side mirror assembly in addition to trying to figure out hooking into harness with a plug assembly that might not be available.....sounds like too much of a hassle and expense.....

I remember someone did this mod, i believe, in the german mini forum, if you are willing to search those threads to find it. It was quite a while ago that I remember reading it because I had also considered this mod. I think they used a British mirror and splice wired it to the door handle light?
