This is the official DVD of the 2009 build process for the BMW MINI models R56, R55 and R57. Covering Hatch, Clubman and Convertible. Includes all stages including pressing, bodyshop, paint, assembly and engines. A copy of the DVD is now given to all visitors on the Factory Tour. I have been 3 times now including the special extended 50th Mini Birthday tour which included the paint shop.

I remember miniusa.com used to have a video of the manufacturing of the R50/R53 - does anyone know where I can pull it up?

Thanks!

Has Anyone Ever Been to the MINI Factory

At the top of this page the Aug 11, 2011 posting is a video of the R56 manufacturing process at Cowley Oxford. Seems to be a BMW produced video that is on You Tube. Its for the second generation cars so it may not be what you are seeking.

If you ever have the opportunity to take a tour, it's well worth it! I'm going in a couple of weeks - this will be my 14th tour I think

Is there any other way to get tickets besides going through the Min Plant Oxford website? They're all booked for my trip overseas. Maybe there's a chance I can happen upon some tickets by calling the day of/before?

No, but we watched it on youtube before it arrived...the day it was being painted...we saw the UK factory painting operation... Cool

I went about 7 years ago. My father in law was in-charge of Fire Safety for BMW in the UK so he got us a tour. It is one of the reasons I ended up getting a mini. It is a really cool place and the "Just in Time" build logistics boggles the mind when you think about where all the parts are made....

Well worth the trip. It was a great tour! We got to see the assembly plant (paint and bodywork were closed to tours at the time) and the whole process is a feat of organizational skill.

ive been 8 times now and every time i see something different

The last time we were there (April) they had the first of the F56 test mules going through so we were moved away while it went through final assembly

If you are passing through oxford on your hols, go online and book a tour. its £12 and lasts befween 2 and 3 hours

The tour guides are superb

They are currently building an new body in white assembly plant where they will build the new F56

Final assembly is excellent and if you have ordered a mini, take yourt chassis number with you and the guides will let you know what stage of build it is at. You never know you may get to see it. I missed mine going through final assembly by about 2 hours. was gutted.

You can book on line now using this link

http://moxford.plantsitecms.co.uk/fa...lant-tour.aspx

we will be going again in october so should hopefully see the new model in production
