Is this doable?

Fellas,

I've got a conference down your way this week and was wondering if ya'll'd help me out. My serpentine belt has to be replaced and I want to do that this week with whatever assistance ya'll could provide. What I need from ya'll is a reputable BMW shop that I can get the belt from (JCW perhaps?), Henry's tensioner tool and the location for the shop. The first and third should be easy, the second not so. I'm sure that I could get a long pry bar and a block of wood if Henry's bar isn't available. What say ya'll?

Cheers!!

Hello Poppa Bear!!
I'm still waiting for 91eunos to return my tensioner tool. So… No tool available to remove the belt the safe way. I just received my tensioner stop bar today and I will try to install it this weekend. I can help you change the belt this weekend. Also, I can go to the BMW and order the JCW belt for you, just provide me with the correct belt Numbers for the JCW belt. I have to order this tomorrow to be able to get it Friday or Saturday. How is your car working with the Alta pulley? Let me know. Henry

Henry,

Thanks for helping out. I didn't mean for this to be a major drama, just wanted to see if it was a reasonable project as this is a simple fix. With the right tools, of course!!

As for the belt, I'd read on NAM about using the stock JCW belt as an option to the NAPA belt, however, if it your local dealer cannot have it here by Friday morning, there's no use in ordering it. I'd get it from my dealer in NL.

As for Maggie, she's doing OK but there are no holes showing in the tensioner now. Not sure if or how bad that is, this "fix" was more for my psychological first aid than anything else. I've ordered the Detroit part and will install it IMMEDIATELY upon arrival, you can be sure! BTW, which one did you get?

Again, Henry, thanks for your assistance and, as I'm on the library computer now, I'll try to PM my celly later.

Cheers!!

Poopa Bear!
No holes showing on my tensioner either. Not sure if this is good or bad, I have to research. I got the MYmini tensioner stop bar. Henry
