Hey guys...I just got my International License....SO PAINLESS!!!!! This IS what you need, oh flirting does help by the way, 1 passport pic (u get 4 from hauptbahnhof 5 euro) Europe license (preferred), Passport or other ID, 16 euro and 30 minutes. If you are in Heidelberg area the building is on Bergheimer STR #69. Too easy. You can get info from the Drivers training office if you are service member

And who is going to implement the physical training program, to prepare for the MITA?

It should include this.

I am pretty confident that I will be able to do this. Count me in plus 1 Abuzavi. BTW, SMSgt Bo that cowbell comment was awesome!

MITA 2007: Hotels

Well, barring any other input, I have come up with three possible options for hotels. AUG 31 to 3 SEP.
  1. Hotel Ducan. Group rooms that can accomodate 10 people. So, we'd be dealing in units / blocks of ten people. Least expensive, at CH40 per person per night, breakfast included -- about $33 a night.
  2. Hotel Badus. 8 double rooms with bath or shower, WC, cable-tv, radio, telephone, safe and buffet breakfast at the price of CHF 54.-- about $44 -- per person, per night.
  3. Hotel Krüzli. 10 double rooms with wc, shower, cable-tv and breakfast. CHF 65. / $53 per person per night.
So, what say ye?

I like the first one, and would be all for it -- if we had more people and / or a better lock on who was going. That being said, I vote for Hotel Badus. The driving, especially for day two, would need to be re-looked -- shucks.

If we do this, I can block the rooms, and then put you in touch directly (if you're a party of two) or you can battle buddy up in pairs or something.

I'm going to go ahead and put down BlimeyCabrio as a yes. Twice now he's been triple-dog-dared to come to this, and so there's no reason, shot of having to resort to male prostitution to pay for the plane ticket, why he should not be on the trip.

Oh, and if Blimey does come across the Atlantic for this thing, there might be a warm up run through the Odenwald or Black Forest, some shop time for at least a USS install, and maybe some track time after, up at the Nürburgring.

If anyone is interested, that is. Feel free to pester Blimey -- no pressure, Paul, no pressure.....

Out of pocket for a few more days. Just had time to check in... I'll update the "Guest List" when I can.
Number 2 looks good.

I heard that she got off the boat before it sailed. Something about being betrayed and leaving you for Dieter.

I'm just saying, it's what I heard....

MITA 2007 - a proposed logo

Behold, the power of cheese.

It might need more cowbell, though.

Full size version can be found, here.

And we have my amazing wife to thank. See, this is what happens when she catches me messing around with Illustrator on her computer -- she just takes over and cranks out things like this.

I see a CD cover in our future.

Hotel Badus it is

OK, Hotel Badus it is.

It looks like we will have 8 double-occupancy rooms (at at CHF 54 per person per night -- about $44 per person per night). Comes with bath or shower, WC, cable-tv, radio, telephone, safe and buffet breakfast

There will also be 4 single occupancy rooms, at CHF 64 per night -- a hair over $53 per night. Comes with shower, WC, cable-tv, radio, telephone, safe and buffet breakfast.

There is a covered garage for 3 or 4 cars, and parking for another 10 or 15 cars at the hotel.

Daflake, Loesches, distefaniak, Team Bo, MiniDeuce, and Baron411 - I've got you down for double rooms (no, your spouse can't be assigned to guard the car all night, or to spend all night, every night, cleaning and detailing it -- if you need that, buy OctaneGuy a ticket to the event).

And I'm assuming that if he flies over for this thing (which I think he is), Blimey will be riding with me.

Ornery, are you going to be travelling with the wife and / or kids? Do you need a double of your own, or a single? You had mentioned LegoLand, and then mentioned that the wife would be in the States and you'd be solo. Want to make you we don't hold a room for you if you're going to be a day late.

As for the rest of you (as of today: Mini Blue Mood, Matty12, Bart5467, Henry), I think this can be handled one of two ways -- you can pair off by yourselves, or I can randomly assign you to a room. At least two of you are going to have to pair off, with only four single rooms.

Anyone given any thought to convoying there -- I'm not even sure where everyone is coming from. Is this even close?

Daflake - Vilseck
Abuzavi - Heidelberg
OrneryDSMini - Aviano
Mini Blue Mood - Did he/she have a name change? Not listed in NAM anymore.
Matty125 - Heidelberg
Loesches - Heidelberg
Bart5467 - Bitburg
distefaniak - North of Munich
Team Bo - KTown
Henry (WP4LDU) - Heidelberg
MiniDeuce - KTown
Baron411 - Stuttgart
* BlimeyCabrio - that America place
* Team MC2 (Rob & Neil)

I'm asking the hotel to block the room either in my name or in the name of our group, and to then let the individuals contact them to arrange billing. You solo folks -- one of you will need to step up to the plate with the credit card or something, and extract blood / promise of payment from your roommate. Being as I think we're all over the age of 12, I don't think this will be a problem.

And yes, the numbers don't add it. I've reserved rooms for 20, and we're a few short of that right now. So, yes, there's room for this group to grow.

When I hear back from the hotel next, I will contact each of you via PM with details on how to contact the hotel, who you are rooming with (if you don't contact me first), and whatever other trivia I might have.

Now, I need some quality time alone with Google Earth to re-tool the routes. Any requests on where we go?

Wow Abuzavi, you have been busy! Sounds like you have everything under control. BTW, I am back from MINI United as of an hour ago. PICs on the way in the email.

I say we get some T-shirts made up. I did some checking and we can get some pretty nice T-Shirts with your awesome design (thanks to your wife! ) on them for about $15 or so thru Cafe Press.

We need to get together sometime soon and go for a quick drive in the local area!

I know that this might sound bad, but it'd also be worth checking the prison at Leavenworth -- they do good work, for cheap. There's also an embroidery place on Rohrbacherstr. here in HBerg, too.

You thinking t-shirts / silk screened, or emboidered?

You around for dinner Wednesday night, at Hermann's in Reilingen?

Abuzavi,

Wednesday night sounds good for dinner. Just email the address or directions and what time you want to meet and we will be there (all four of us!).

As for the T-shirts, whatever works and will last awhile.

Just don't use the RNS (Rudy Navigation System) to get there. You'll end up in Italy.

Damn Abuzavi, your wife has mad skillz! That logo would look great silkscreened onto shirts and made into window or even large door stickers.

Please update Team Bo with my wife, Arielle. That will bring us into the double room category.

Also we may have Rob and Neil from MC2 joining us. I ran into them at Zandfoort where Rob took pics of my car and interviewed my wife and I for possible inclusion in their Mini United feature. Our conversations ran toward American Mini clubs and events. Of course I mentioned MITA and they were digging the concept and wanted to ride along and do a story. I should know in a few weeks if they get support from the publisher and sponsorship from Munich.

I'll update the numbers and stuff. I guess we can call Rob & Neil "tentative." I also got a PM from Baron411, out of Stuttgart; Team Baron will be tagging along, too. Egads, we might bust this 20 number still.

I'll pass the kind words along to the wife. Of course, she's a total wringer -- before getting anchored with me, she was a big shot graphic designer in LA. It was inspiring just to see her make it.

I had actually been toying with the idea of some small posters or something -- for the garage or something. Like the old travel posters -- "Come ski Switzerland" and the like.

I could use some help with the schwag, if there are any voluneers. I'm not at full throttle yet, but last night I started back in on Google Earth and man, I could get lost in there. All y'all are gonna pee in your pants when you see what I'm working up. Get ready to drool.

I've got my advance party coming through town tonight -- a Norwegian buddy and his woman, who are heading to the same Swiss Alps region on their motorcycle for vacation. I'll get their plans tonight over dinner (and a beer or six), and hit them up for a backbrief when they are done.

Daflake, are you still heading down there early with the wife, for a little reconn?

Oh, and we're definitely going to need more cowbell.

Or at least a couple hours late for dinner !!!

Looks like this run is going to be a blast, more than an understatement when I say I am a little jealous

Have I told any of you how much I am hating you right now

But I hope you have fun and I cant wait to see how it all turns out.
