Umlauts and BOC and Cowbells...

I feel a Paris Hilton "It's Not Fair!" suicidal tantrum coming on.

I've got a small to-do list scribbled on a pad here -- gas station locations (best if I can find them in Google Earth), big things to serve as scenic backdrops for photos, lunch locations with a nice view, hotel options. I suppose that list will grow.

And yeah, Blimey -- cry me a river. This project is just hell.....

Poppa Bear -- you need waypoints after intersections, right?

Does your GPS auto-load the next waypoint (string them together), or do you have to hit the "Next" button or something?

Can I name them 101, 102, 103 etc?

OrneryDSMini, can you go back and edit your original post in this thread, and add in the proposed dates, a link to the KMZ file, and the running list of tentative attendees? So far, I think it's at least daflake (and frau) and me (probably solo).

Cool! I'll just pick Blimey up once I return to Hope Mills in August, shall I?

abu, WPs after intersections would be cool. I take your plan and run it through TYRE which outputs an itinerary, which is good. I then have to select the next point in the list to goto, which is bad. Naming them is no drama assuming the transmorgyphication goes well!! I haven't played with that other prog yet but will run some stuff through it and let you know if that's any better than what I have. Thanks!

Cheers!!

Tried to, it will only let me change the header on my post not the whole thread.
I'll start a new thread with the "guest list" and file.

Hope Mills? There's a blast from the recent past! Lived off Hope Mills Road for 14 years while at Pope/Bragg. Got out just before Fayetteville annexed my hood (I use that term in all seriousness). If I ever get orders back to No-Hope-Pope I'll go native and vanish.

I'll try to make room on my calendar for the Alpo Run. Sounds like big fun!

New Thread

Now that we've got mostly everything firmed up on this... I started the sign up thread. This one was more of a "lets see what happens" thing.

Still need a badge and some graphics. So throw me some ideas.

Howdy, neighbor!! I moved out behind the golf course and Rockfish Elementary back in '94 and my next accompanied PCS was last year out here. Within the next 12-24 months (based off of E9 board) will go back to Bragg and either work the job I want or retire and pick up that contractor job that I want!! Not too worried about annexation but do worry about those d***n auto tax increases they're talking about!

Cheers!!

Poppa - funny - I was just sending out emails to all the Tar Heel MINI members in this part of the state today and saw you on the list.

Between you back down there and Rudy at SJAFB, our runs will be like the North American reunion of the Apple Strudel Gang.

So, when would be a good time for me to stop by for the car then?

I wasn't active back in the States due to the complete and utter lacking of a Cooper!! Now I've just been counseled by MSO/CFO (My Significant Other/Chief Financial Officer) about NOT spending ~$700/year for new tires (23k miles on the stock Goodyears in the first 11 months of ownership!!)
I'm looking forward to being active in NC, however, it appears that I'll still have to do the 2-3 hour drive to get to ya'll. Not that much different than what I do here.

Cheers!!

Now there is two things you don't want to see together in a post... a reference to SJAFB and FayetteNam.

Oh, come now. True, it's flat and hot and sandy in that part of North Carolina. But at least there's a Tastee Freeze down the street. Haven't seen any of those in Baghdad...

And Hope Mills is only about 75-90 minutes from where we're meeting in Raleigh - and I plan to do some drives down east later this year - lots of good roads down there if you can dodge the tobacco harvesters and stray ordinance and random dogs crossing the road.

Ooooooops.

Sorry Art. Somehow I keep hijacking these Europe threads. Whassup with that? End of exercise. Return to your assigned duties.

Paul, what in the world are you taking about? There's a Tastee Freeze in Baghdad, at the corner of 5th and Crescent.

And we are talking about the Alps here. Be careful when you make assertions about things like "good roads."

Oh yeah - I think I saw that one in one of those Google Earth things you sent me...
