Electrical MSFW Buttons, 3rd Party HU?
MSFW Buttons, 3rd Party HU?
This may be a dead end, but wasn't sure what to search for..
If I have a(n) MSFW, is there an interface to be able to use the buttons for a Sony HU (or any other HU, and then worry about that step when I get to it..)
Cheers,
Me..

Do a search in the Audio forum for PAC SWI-X.
Yes is the answer - I have PLUG & PLAY adaptors for most makes of stereo.
You need to make sure the stereo you are buying has an input for one of these. Normally listed as steering remote input. There is a list of stereos over on Mini2 or if you narrow your search down to a few models & post them here I will tell you what will work. Plug & play interface inc harness adaptor for Sony £25
There is also the PAC SWIX but this does involve cutting a factory wire under the column - this device will work however on some stereos that there is no plug & play adaptor available

Cool, thanks guys!! As far as HUs go, I have a rather cutom HU - an Empeg (aka "Rio Car"). On the plus side, with a little work I can get it to recognize anything. On the other hand, it has an input compatible with a "Sony Stalk" - whatever the heck that is.
I was prepared to take an extra remote apart, mount the LED down somewhere and hard-wire the buttons, but.. eh.. if I'm gonna take it apart, would like to use something a little more 'polished'.
If there's something that can send Sony Stalk signals, then that'd be the best, otherwise I'll check out the SWIX thingie.
Thanks!!
Mike.

Sweet, thanks! Two last questions. (Asking here, in hopes that in the future someone else with a need for info will find it useful..)
1. The picture shows it end in a 1/8 mini plug. What does the 'Sony to Boost' end in? Same connector?
2. What's the difference between the "Sony to Wave" and "Sony to Boost" ones? Since I have a custom HU, the factory (WAVE radio from factory) wiring was cut. I can find the wire I need to splice in, just was curious on wiriing differences.
Thanks!
Mike.

Sony to Boost has a boost socket to fit USA spec Mini & ISO at the other end (many USA stereos do not come with ISO though, I do sell ISO sockets)
It also has a 1/8 plug for the mfsw commands
2 Wave has a wave socket, boost has a boost socket, wave is UK standard, Boost is USA standard. If you have cut it off Then I can supply just the mfsw bit with no plugs just 3 wires for £21
