iPod interface - what have I done?

I recently added the OEM iPod interface. Everything seemed to be working fine until I noticed no sound coming from the front speakers, only the rear speakers are putting out sound. I cannot be sure if this is a new development or the speakers cut out after the upgrade. I was damn careful installing the interface and everything works but the front speakers.

Anyone else have a similar problem? Any ideas on how to run this down?

I'd say, start with the wiring harness in the back, and if that's not enough, try the wires in the harness. Off the top of my head, I don't remember the coloring of the wires for the speakers, but it may just be "looseness".

What abuzavi said. It is probably just a loose connector. This can happen when you reinstall the HU. Also, I highly recommend that you "test" your system BEFORE you button everything down. That way you are not having to tear it all back apart again.

Thanks

Thanks abuzavi and daflake, I'm hoping that's all it is. Good advice about the testing, I was in a rush and didn't test it - another lesson learned!

I had a wire that was not completely pushed into the connector...That was my issue...
Check the wires you replaced with the Ipod adaptor.
As others say..Test befor you re-install the head unit.
Good Luck!

In my search for DIY instructions some folks had various speakers fail/fry/short because they didn't disconnect the negative battery terminal anytime they were working with the connections.

did you check your fader? I know sounds silly but sit in the car doors shut and music on.... then adjust the fader... see if there is ANYTHING at all coming out

i agree with the fader switch. it seems silly, but i used to work in car audio and you wouldn't believe how many times i had to "fix" someone's mistake, simply because when they were re-installing the head unit, the balance and fader switch were bumped =D also, you might want to check your specific interface. did you have to install a high-low converter? if so, there are differences in different high-lows. some of them only have two channels, which may be why you are only getting sound out of the rear speakers.

is it no sound from the fornt all the time or only when the ipod is used. it is not uncommon for the ipod interface module to go bad and cause wired problems. i'd unplug the interface module and see if that helps any.
