Automatic door closure and remote hatch?

The purpose of this is to be able to close the doors without having to slam them. I recently installed Dynamat through out the entire car and the cabin pressure has increased. Dynamat is just amazing! There's almost "0" road noise, even in rain. Makes your stereo/entertainment system sound even better! The windows already drop down (1/4") to release cabin pressure, but the doors still require more force to close.

Anyone know how to mod the driver/passenger doors to automatically pull the doors closed? This is a feature that is on the Mercedes S500 and it works by simply closing the door until it catches the latch. That is when the "door closure" mechanism kicks in and finishes the job of closing the door. Smooth and effortless. Also, I would like to know if it's possible to mod the rear hatch to automatically close? A remote hatch would be cool!

Cheers. -m

I have no idea how this is done, but it sounds like a very expensive and heavy mod. Why not just work on the pecs at the gym and call it good?!

The easiest, if not cheapest way, would be to buy a $60K vehicle that has those features. You could TRY a retrofit of said components from a Mercedes or Lexus (et. al.) but it won't be cheap or easy. You'd have to gut the current latches and install/power the new ones, and likely they're controlled by the CPU vs. simple pressure switch.
Good luck in the research, though!

As an afterthought, I would think heavier dynamatted doors would close more easily, as they have more mass. Not sure how dynamat would increase cabin pressure.

Did you cover the foam vents below the rear hatch? Lowering the windows lets it close normally? Wierd.

I guess I was over optimistic that I could find such a mod. You mentioned Lexus may have this feature. Does BMW offer this on any of their vehicles? The weight of the doors is barely noticeable. Not sure about covering the foam vents because I had the Dynamat installed professionally. Looks like I'll have to live with closing the doors harder than usual. Any ideas for the hatch?
