Install is very easy. Open the bonnet and replace the light.

I've heard that the sylvania/osram silverstars sold here in the US are not as good as the osram silverstars sold overseas but can be purchased here on some sites such as danielster.com .......can anyone confirm

Sylvania Silverstars = Osram Silverstars + blue tint.

On the H7's, the tint is so light.... it is barely whiter than the Osrams-- yet dimmer.

www.powerbulbs.co.uk
Free shipping. Usually throws in a set of Phillips BlueVision (or Osram Cool Blue) W5W lights (which you can use to replace the front parking lights)

Yes - you CAN mess this up

Yes you can mess this up .... it sounds like you've never played in light bulb land....

When you get to Autozone and find the lightbulbs there will be a wall of them .... all different.

B4 you go, take out one of your existing bulbs - no tools req'd - PM if you need more help. On the bulb find the number ... or just put the bulb in your pocket and drive over to AZ (during the day if the light is in your pocket cuz if u turn on your headlights you might burn your leg or worse!)

At AZ find the package of bulbs with the same number .... or find the person wearing the AZ shirt - show them the bulb and beg for their assist. They may even put the bulbs in for you!

And remember...DO NOT touch the bulb itself, only the metal base. Oil on your fingers can cause it to overheat when in use.

Because of this thread I bought some Syl SS's today for the high beams and they did help on the Mini too.(I think the HID's are the weak link )Adjusted the cheap factory driving lights again, this time I got them better and polished the headlight lenses. I now have some good lights ,to see with

You might also want to look at (with sunglasses on) the Hella Xenon Blue Optilux H7 bulbs. They are not really blue, but just as white as the Silverstars. I hope they last longer than the Siverstars I had before. I was dissapointed to have the domestic market Silverstar bulbs last only a year (and yes, I know how to install bulbs). The Xenon Hellas cost about 10% more. I hear they last longer. We will find out.

I've got two other cars running Silverstars issue free for 2.5 and 1.5 years and counting, almost a year on my Silverstars no sign of them going any time soon?

And Xenon bulbs not in Xenon housings are illegal.

These are called "Xenon Optilux" and are fully DOT legal. They are supposed to have Xenon gas but are not H.I.D. bulbs. I think it is just a marketing thing. You may be confusing them with H.I.D. bulbs, which these are not.

Has anyone tried the new Philips X-treme bulbs, just released in the past few months? DOT legal and claim to be the brightest halogens currently available.
