one new xenon = color mismatch???

Had my drivers side xenon go out last night, went to the dealer today and they replaced it no problem. . . . except now that its evening again and I have them on the new unit is much whiter than the drivers side which is more of a purple cast. Anyone experience this? Is there a "break in period" for the new unit-perhaps is fades into more of a purple? I have a call back in to the dealer but thought I'd post and see what info might be out there.

As the HID capsule ages, there is a gradual shift in color. Phillips designed their 5000K bulb to address this issue.

Heard back from the dealer - says this happens and even if they replace both sides there are often visible differences from side to side. Guess I live with it. Any other opinions?

age can change the color, I would have them put in a new one on the other side....the color should be a better match. There is better quality control than the dealer is suggesting. If you buy bulbs at the same temperature, ie--5000K or 6000K, they should match. I replaced my 4300K bulbs with 6000K and the bulbs I put in are exactly the same.

Don't let the dealer con you out of having them match, if the new bulb is a different temperature than your original one, make them switch to a new one.....they should match, end of story.

you want to replace both bulbs for a new ones ... as long as you have the same bulbs, you will not get any dif. in the color.
