Discrepancies with Aux Driving Light instructions

Hi everyone,

I searched through the first 5 pages of this section but didn't see my question already answered so here goes...

I was working on installing the factory auxiliary driving lights and ran into some differences between what's pictured in the factory install instructions and my car... thought I would run it by you.

Mine is an 06MCS btw. The BMW/MINI instructions I'm looking at are the same ones available for download at www.minimania.com and are dated 9/17/02

See the attached pic of page 7 from the install sheets, I've circled my first two issues.

That ground nut I am supposed to attach the supplemental harness ground to is on my PASSENGER side - NOT on the driver side as illustrated. The closest ground is the strap that goes from the hood to the fender support by the driver side hood hinge. Should I use that instead or something else?

The inertia switch you are supposed to loosen in order to slip the fuse holder bracket behind is not on my car. I'm ok with having the fuse dangling but where did the inertia switch go on the 06?

These are both pretty minor but I'm worried that if this is different then perhaps the wiring that I am supposed to splice in has changed since these instructions were written... ideas anyone?

Thanks,

-e

Newer cars (actually '03 and up) dont have the inertia switch under the hood anymore. I am assuming that the mounting points were eventually deleted after the intertia switch became integrated within the SRS system inside the passenger cabin. The ground stud for the bonnet is more than acceptable, the wiring whould have enough slack to reach. Route the wire though the grommet under the weather seal.

If there is no suitable mounting point available to use for the fuse holder braket, double-sided foam tape can be used if you wish not to drill any holes in the body.

The holes for the inertia switch are still in the sheet metal however they aren't threaded and because of the boxing you can't get at their backsides to hold a nut in place.

Double stick tape it is...
Thanks so no wiring differences to speak of that you know of?
