122 Degrees Farenhiet?

I think i have a temp sensor problem....

After i had my front bumper off for a bit, I threw it all back on and hopped in the car, and my temp was reading 122 degrees.

I dissconeccted the battery, and hooked it back up, then hopped in the car.

Turned car on and watched the temp sensor climb from 0 degrees all the way to 122 and stop.

Does the sensor unplug somewhere under the bumper? I looked, but I probably missed a connector and thats why its climbing like that...

Sounds like an unplugged sensor, or the wiring got pinched or damaged. It will read at max (122 deg) if that's the case.

Good to know... Is that the max the temp gauge will go in general?

The sensor is attached to the front plastic bumper facade. On the right side a bit high up. Easy to miss. You most likely unplugged it.

But does the sender itself unplug from the wiring?

I know where it all runs, and i know i didnt pinch it, so it has to plug in somewhere.

I dont run a lower grille, so mine is in a custom mount on the aluminum bumper suport itself.

Yes, if I remember correctly, the unit was unplugged on mine and they had to replug it in. Maybe you lost the sensor?

The sensor has a polug on it. It is mounted on the top middle of the bumper. I had something hit my car once and knocked it off. BTW, my temp gauge read 122 degrees the other day....but it wasn't malfunctioning! Arizona is HOTT!

122 Deg F; Not than unusual in Arizona.

But its a dry heat.

Sensor is only a few inches of the hot asphalt.

Yeah, I've seen 122 on my sensor. In the last couple of weeks even. What makes you think that's a problem?

I was in Phoenix a couple of weeks ago. Rental car thermometer read → 127 ← !

I hear for '07, MINI will have an option for a fourth digit on the outside air temperature display - only for Nevada, Arizona, Texas and Florida cars .

Maybe your getting the heat index if the Chicago weather expanded in your direction.

Sounds like something didn't get plugged back in.
