How can I add another Cig Adapter?

Or how can I power my Sirius radio without using the cig adapter?

Its just a pain in the *** when I want to plug my cell phone charger in, and i have to go back to listening to old-fashioned terrestrial radio

thanks!

The quick and easy way is to get a splitter that plugs into the lighter socket.

They look something like this and cost only a few bucks at an auto parts store or chain discount store with an automotive department.

You can also hardwire additional power outlets with a cheap kit also found at the same places.

I added an add-a-fuse, and have the power for the XM hardwired. Took only about 15 min. to set up.

I added a separate circuit solely for my JVC Sirius receiver. I have it controlled by the radio itself so I can have it come on and off with the radio, especially when being played with the key off. Not difficult to accomplish, you simply need a small relay and an inline fuseholder. Use the radio control output (white wire that feeds the antenna preamp) to power the relay coil. Tap into the power lead to the radio (I believe red/grn) with the inline fuse holder (2 amp fuse). From the fuse holder connect to the relay common contact, the other normally open contact feeds the Sirius radio pigtail. Ground the other wire from the pigtail and the other side of the relay coil. You now have a dedicated, controlled power source for your Sirius.

The pigtail can be made from the power cord that comes with the radio. I had extras with the proper plug. The relay, being only about an inch long and half inch square was enclosed in shrink tubing and tied into the radio wiring harness. The whole setup was compact and unobtrusive and looked 'factory', but it's completely hidden behind the radio.

On my '02, I have a capped off hole on the left side of the boot (close to the rear seat upright and 12" from the floor) that I always thought concealed another outlet. Not true. Is there a retrofit kit available?

I want to add a circuit and have found the following two items - but am unsure which works best with the MINI fuse box -

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=071-580

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=071-585

The second one says it is for Mini Fuses - but that is probably not MINI fuses !!

Any advice would be welcome !!

Bill

Drop your tail gate and stick your head in there. Look towards the top of the left side pannel.

Most convertable owners do not realize that they have one because they never stick their head in the boot to see what is in there!

You want the 071-580 (though after shipping, you can get it cheaper from most auto parts stores - I got mine from Pep Boys)

You can check out this thread for more details.

I got a hole there, but nothing behind the cap. Was the actual receptable not added until after 2002?
