Electrical Audible Tone
I ended up not liking it
it sounded to cheap for what i thought it would be, but here are the picks and sounds.

<Ressurection of old thread>
I read this thread w/ interest b/c I have an 80, or 90 dB (I don't remember which, but I do remember that it was less than 100) RadioShack piezo alarm laying around.
What I did different was, I stuck the relatively small unit (relative to the one pictured above, that is) to the carbody, inside the hatch, right next to the wire boot/grommet. This alarm is only about 5/8 inch tall, so I knew it would clear the closed hatch b/c the wire boot protrudes even more, at about 3/4 inch... I extended the wires and routed them down under the rubber hatch seal to the little white connector, and slipped the positive lead (having "tinned" the tip w/ solder) into the back of the connector to the brown/yellow wire, and taped it so it can't come loose. ...I did it this way b/c I did not want to cut and splice into the car's wiring... I spliced an open-end "spade" connector onto the ground wire, and found a good, convenient, nearby ground, by connecting it under the nut that secures that heat-sink-looking thing with the brown wires comming out of it (it would be in the lower right in both pics above, outside the frames).
Voila, it works! It's important to note that mounted in this location, it is very clearly audible outside the car, b/c it is NOT actually inside the cabin being muffled. Maybe almost too much...I was pleasantly surprised at how loud it was (and remember...this is not the heavy duty war siren mentioned above), but it produces a pleasant solid high-pitched "beeeep", and is not annoying or "out-of-character" at all. Best thing is, I can still barely hear it from inside my house.
