Problem after wiring red rear fog light

I bought a red rear fog light from the dealer to have a 4th brake light for my mcs 05. I brought a double wire over to the plug and used a scotchlock to wire in the rear fog light to my right rear brake wiring harness. After this install the 4 brakes lights work great BUT, no brake light with the switch off andkeys out. I thought the brakes lights are supposed to come on every time you press the pedal regardless if it's running or not. Now no brake lights with the key off. Running or key on auxillary they work fine. I'm really puzzled Is there a fuse for the brake lights? I checked every fuse on the box under the drivers side and the box under the hood. all OK. I'm totally bamboozeled?:impatient I've included pics. At night it really stands out!

Thats correct, you must have the car turned on for the brakes to light up.02-06
