Electrical A/C compressor no go
A/C compressor no go
It's my '03 MCS w/54K Miles. A/C compressor will not come on. My shop had it for a couple hours today. had it on the computer, took out the freon and recharged it, checked all the usual stuff like fuses and relays and could not figure it out yet.
Funny cuz even before this happend, seems like when the climate control is set to off, still have heat coming out of the vents - a bit more than just outside warm air.
I got it in sort of late and will bring it back in the morning. Curious if anyone has been thru this one?

Turns out it's the A/C clutch. My guy says we need to replace the whole compressor. New about $650, and he will see about a used one in the morning. May not be worth the $250 or so saved on the used one. What about a new replacement like this:

Compressor Replaced 49K Miles
Greetings,
After a thorough diagnosis we had to replace the A/C compressor on our 2003 Cooper S. The compressor was $650.00 from Braman MINI plus labor, freon and a new belt was $970.00
Diagnosis, parts delivery and R&R was complete in 8hrs.
Hope this helps.
Ron
