Rear Seat Power Outlet Location

I'm looking for a good location to put an unswitched power outlet in the rear seat area. The unswitched issue is a no brainer - tap into the battery and a ground in the boot of my MCS (like I did for the boot power outlet). It's the location I'm struggling with. I'm thinking of about the top of the console behind the rear cupholder but I don't think it's deep enough for the OEM outlet (not enough clearance inside). The left and right cubbies might be a consideration but I don't know how to remove the side panels to get visibility to what's behind them. I'd prefer the middle, though, so either passenger could use it. Thoughts?

Thought..

Is your car one of the ones that doesn't have the outlet in the boot? Or are you talking about installing a standard outlet in your boot?

It's an 03 MCS so it didn't come with the outlet. I did add the OEM outlet to the boot but now I want one inside in the back seat area.

How did you add an outlet to the boot in your 03? I want to do it to mine. Where did you get the parts you needed?

Does the orange ring only light up when in use? (my concern is that since it's connected directly to the battery, I don't want it to drain the power).

If you read through the thread, you'll see some discussion about that. As I recall, though, the light ring and bulb were not available when I ordered the parts. They're discontinued so you won't even have to worry about it. Call Classic MINI and they'll send the correct parts for the project.

I ordered the parts from classic mini but I am also getting the bulb since I want to have it lit up when in use (but off when not). I guess I'll figure it out when I get it :P

Thanks!
