I just wanted them to turn on when the headlights turned on O_o. Guess I'm a bad person for wanting to use as much light as possible to see. Not like I wanna drive around with them on during the daytime.

Randy, first thanks for coming into NAM and participating. I wish everyone who made mini products did that.

I found about about this from Ian last week, and I think he was basically just surprised. I don't think he has any issue with them, as he said he just would like to have one to look at and technically review for himself (and it appears Randy just sent him one).

Actually my surprise was the price of the new circuit. I certainly thought anyone else making one would charge $100, given the high price of aftermarket mods and the high demand for the circuit. Ian and Randy should be thanked for keeping the price low.

I also had found out about this and am watching it very closely. There is promise of an upgrade around the new year, so I think I'll wait until the to decide. I'm also interested to see if Ian's also comes back (via a vendor) and what the price differences would be. I have the convienence package and do not want the DSC off bit, so it really is all about the windows for me. One thing I was noticeing and thinking about though is that with the upgrade (and possibly the GDO slightly modified) I could add some neat bits to the car and control them on the toggles. That may sway specifically towards the MCAW, but I am waiting for the final answers on the products.

I may add that this is hard to wait on as I know I want one and would love to have one when my MINI gets here in (hopefully) two-three weeks. I may cave and get the MCAW as I might be fine without the upgrade...

Just to chime in ...

As Josh mentioned, I was a bit "caught out" by this new circuit. The designers did send me a message about it - but by the time I got it I was already in manufacture of a batch of "original MINI circuits" which were going to be sold by OutMotoring.
However OutMotoring have since gone silent - maybe because of this new MCAW?

I have received a MCAW (thanks Kevin) and will be doing a compare on GBMINI.net soon ... since I was over halfway through a commitment of MINI circuit build, I also will have some "originals" to sell soon - with the pull out of OutMotoring, I will have to back track (again!) and sell them myself (unless everyone now buys the "new kid on the block").

A little unfortunate with the timing to have two products available; I don't believe either design is being sold at an unfair price ...

I second that. I love that this kind of an owner based aftermarket exists for our cars. Not only should they be thanked for the price, bt just being there and putting in ingenuity and hard work that the rest of us get to enjoy. I would have gotten Ian's a while back if the timing had been right, but I have just ordered a MCAW w/ GDO and will likely be getting the upgrade for the Track Day DSC in January.

Just to clarify things...we fully intend on taking over the sales and distribution and maybe the manufacturer coordination of Ians auto up circuit. We have had numerous emails regarding this possible transition/relationship and hope it works out.

We have also been in long term discussions with the maker of a different product that only offers auto up via the remote control from outside the car. That product is now on our site for sale.

We REALLY want to get Ians original auto up circuit because it offers auto up from inside the car while the car is on and utilizes the toggle switches, which is very slick. We intend to offer both products on our site as long as they both continue to sell well. Ians is proven over time and has great usability and design and the new one has limited functionality but has its niche.

Keep an eye out for OutMotoing.com to start offering the original Ian Cull auto up circuit. If we can make it work out for both us and Ian it will certainly happen, he is just ironing out some production numbers and logistical issues at the moment...

AC,

Aaron-thanks for the reply.
Any chance you will be posting the installation instructions for the new via-remote module? I'm interested to see if it is the same as mine and if clearer instructions were made. The ones I have are for a nissan.
