100w globes in OEM driving lights???

Does anyone know if this would be a good or bad idea?

Standard globes are 55w, if 100w is too much, what about 75w?

I had a '78 Fiesta in which I replaced the standard sealed beam 6041's ( I am suprised I remembered the part # ) with some halogen headights made by Marchal which used a separate 55W bulb for low and high beams....at the time, these were the only light assemblies with halogen non-sealed beam lights. I replaced the highs with 100W's and used a separate relay. The brightness was absolutely incredible, but would attract every moth within 10 miles to my poor windshield. Even though the relay was meant for this use by Machal, I burnt out 3 relays over 7 years

Search around the site. There are references to frying the wiring. Stock wiring is not intended to go higher than 55W

If you wired it yourself, that would be different
