Fog Light Harness

Has anyone heard when the fog light harness will be available for 2005 cars built before 10/2005?

The last I heard was that the harness was in stock but the instructions needed to be translated from German to English before being available to the dealerships. I have the correct switch pack and light.

Same here..

I'd be curious to find out the cost and the length of installation.

No cost - it was part of the deal made during the purchase.

I also will check with Mini USA but sometimes they're the last to know (or disclose info).

The part is definitely available. It was released with instructions approximately 2 weeks ago. The parts kit is $122.82 and the labour quoted is 3 hours (so total around $400).

I had this done to my MCS last Monday, however, they found an unrelated issue with my car so I don't have the car or the paperwork (w/part number). I'm hoping to have it back by Friday and will post the part number if you guys don't get it before then. Sorry I can't give you more info.

$400? Ouch!!! I think I get more use out of the $50 4th brake light mod I did.

Probably...but I wanted the car finished off and the 4th brake light wouldn't have done it for me. I'm just happy that they finally released the parts/instructions...would have ordered it from the factory that way if it had been available.

I didn't mean to come off stand offish. If I could've got the light from the factory I also would have. But I have one on my Audi and have used it about 3-4 times in the past two and a half years. All without reason. I see the 4th break light not only as a better return on the money, but a true safety device. You might want to consider it since you have all the hardware in place. Mini-rolls did a nice inexpensive kit which you can get from www.myminiparts.com. It will leave your fog light functional and give you a 4th break light at the same time.

Hey, no worries...now the mod you are talking about I WOULD be interested in. I thought it was an all or nothing deal...I didn't think it could function as both, I'll check it out. Oh, and I had an Audi too but used the rear brake quite a bit. It was excellent for getting tailgaters off my tail...flicked it on and whoops, the person behind thought I was breaking. I can't really see it working the same way or even really using it as much given its location, but I couldn't stand the blackout plug and the missing switch. And to have the switch but not have it hooked up to something would have just been fake, and, well, that's just wrong IMHO.

I know the $400 seems crazy, but I've spent $400 on things much more frivolous...it was a birthday present to myself and to my MINI.
