OEM water temp guage?

This is a little convoluted, sorry. I was wondering if Mini offered a water temp guage to fit amongst the auxiliary guage packs it has. The more guages the better, the less idiot lights even betterer. I see that Mini offers two aux. guage packs (not including the Chrono Pack) package 1 having a boost guage and volts/battery guage and package 2 having another volts/battery guage and a oil temp guage as well. Well, i would like all three guages (but no redundancy, please) and a water temp as well, and was wondering if Mini was able to switch out one of the volts/battery guages for me during installation. Anyone have any experience or with this or suggestions?

Thanks

Why. You already get a water temp gauge on the speedo, don't you?

Couldn't remember if you did or not (don't have my Mini yet). I will probably show my ignorance here, but I thought that those gauges embedded in the speedo/chrono pack were not the greatest and migt offer questionable readings-or at least not as precise as the aux gauges. I seem to remember a few threads around here suggesting this. If I am wrong and the chrono/speedo readings are accurate, then maybe oil pressure might be useful . . . Just bugs me a bit to have the double voltage gauges when the space could be used for something else.

Thanks

I used a pair of gauges from Autometer called the " ultra light Series'. They have the same orange backlight as the stock. I set them in the stock Mini acc gage panel which was about $ 45 direct from Mini. The stock " temp " gage leaves a lot to be desired. Up to the 05 cars they were really just idiot lamps designed as gages. They only have 3 positions , low, min ( normal ) and High ( your screwed ). Some with the 05's say there's are more accurate but I would not trust them until proven . My car is in for a little work but I can try to post a pic in the next day or so.

fyi... The OEM water temp gauge is closer to a glorified idiot light than a true measuring instrument.
