Another rear fog light question

Okay, I moved to England and shipped over my 2002. In order to pass the first inspecption (yes the first inspection becasue they actually have two) I need to have a rear fog light. Problem is the parts that Mini has to retrofit are only for 2004 cars and newer becasue apparently the wiring harness is not rigged for this in the older models. So is there any reason why I cannot wire up the bulb socket that is used for the fog lights (the bulb is actually in there already even though the car didn't come with rear fogs) to a toggle switch located in the empty slot on my dash?

The #1 wire is the input wire for the rear foglights on you car. You could cut the wire and splice in a wire to a switch then power to the switch. But I believe that switch panel will work on the 02. I have helped a few people install the panel on 02s and they were able to get the dealer to activiate the rear fogs.

I have an '02 and I have my rear fog lights working from the toggle switch in the consule. You will need to buy a new toggle switch part that has all 6 switches. It can be connected by the dealer and they need to activate it by connecting it to their shop computer and telling the OBC the fog lights and switch are there.

When mine was installed the only thing they had to add was the new 6 switch panel. Everything else was there, wires, bulbs, reflectors etc.

Works like a charm. Good luck.

curious where the fog goes on the pre-05 cars since the new fog is where the reverse used to be?

On the 2002 cars the rear tail light has three sections, the dealer over here told me the upper section is where it should go. I haven't looked inside and behind the unit yet but will do so tomorrow.

My September '02 production MCS only required the new toggle switch and a quick activation software change to enable my rear fogs to function. Your '02 should be no different.
