Help - Broken BST Hot Lead

I hope someone can offer some assistance...

While swapping batteries today, I needed to bend the hot lead on the BST (Battery Safety Terminal - that orange box thingy). I guess I bent it one too many times for my various applications .

As you can see, it broke, and it this point I'm not to sure how to remedy it, minus cable replacement or a weld job, neither of which I can do today. Any ideas?

Thanks much!

my first suggestion would be to use the broken piece to clamp the cable on... VERY TEMP but if you need it back on it could work for a bit just use a bunch of electrical tape so you dont screw anythign up...

I'll see if I can make tape work, but I fret that it might lose contact. If so, the air bag light comes on, and that requires a trip to the dealer... Always plan for the unexpected!

Curses! Folded again!

You can get crimp-on replacement terminals at the auto parts store. Problem is, it takes a LOT of force to crimp them. A new cable would prolly be easiest.

Well, it looks like I'm going to try taking a trip to the auto parts store later, IF my wife comes home soon. Also, with a few items listed on craigslist, I have someone venturing into the canyon to buy something this afternoon. I hope he gets here sooner, and opposed to later!

I'll see what I can find there (auto parts store). I doubt this is a MINI specific part also, so I'd have to buy the whole dang BST . I suppose I could check the salvage yards also. I'll share what I find later today... Thanks!

Well, the wife came home in time, and a quick trip to Kragen's allowed me to get this done. In a rush, I cut the wrong end, so that's why I have two new fittings . All works just fine!
