I am also glad to hear that your circuit will work on the '06s because I am picking up mine this Saturday and I was one of the lucky ones that managed to purchase one of the last units, well before the delivery of my car.

In a way I am very glad to hear that fog light control will no longer be available as there are too many people out there who do not understand the correct use of fog lights. Granted, the MINI fogs are not as bad as some of the ones on Subarus and most SUVs that are higher and usually improperly aimed.

A different issue are the people that put over wattage bulbs in their fogs, main and high beams.

That's not the Auto-up module - that one rolls the windows up with the remote, vs. Ian's double (or single) click up module.
Don't know if the two would be compatible. Ian?

I don't know anything about that window remote-close module.

MikeyTheMINI offers one on NewMINIstuff but it requires the factory alarm.

Someone called KPTech discussed one on MINI2 a year ago, but back then it required serious install effort (splicing into harnesses, etc). I know that Aaron / OutMotoring was in discussion with KPTech so maybe that is the same module.

Either way, there should be no issue with MINI circuit compatibility - when the car is turned off, the MINI circuit is unpowered so cannot affect anything.

Aaron / OutMotoring is very quiet these days

Hmm.. that looks exactly like the KPTech module. (Of course it's just a project box and wiring harness so that really means nothing)
But at $50, that is below the "half price" I paid to beta test it...
...and I never installed it because it requires you to solder onto hard to find wires deep under the dash. Perhaps we should confirm with outmotoring how that installs. Because if so there is no way in the world it would take 15 minutes, even for a person who installs car alarms for a living.

It's actually very quick to install. The owner of KPT came over and did my car in about 15 minutes and then another MINI that was here in the same amount of time. I have some pictures of the install and will get them posted soon along with a PDF instruction sheet. It does require splicing of 5 wires and yes it is a bit tricky to find the right wire, but they are all color coded and straight forward to install with common tools.

It is a unique product but I still think that Ians circuit is the bomb. I think Ians is less obtrusive (and certainly more painless to install) and I hope to have his circuit available soon at OutMotoring.com..

Here is the reply to other auto up thread just to avoid any confusion:

"...we fully intend on taking over the sales and distribution and maybe the manufacturer coordination of Ians auto up circuit. We (Ian and I) have had numerous emails regarding this possible transition/relationship and hope it works out.

We have also been in long term discussions with the maker of a different product that only offers auto up via the remote control from outside the car. That product is now on our site for sale.

We REALLY want to get Ians original auto up circuit because it offers auto up from inside the car while the car is on and utilizes the toggle switches, which is very slick. We intend to offer both products on our site as long as they both continue to sell well. Ians is proven over time and has great usability and design and the new one has limited functionality but has its niche.

Keep an eye out for OutMotoing.com to start offering the original Ian Cull auto up circuit. If we can make it work out for both parties it will certainly happen, he is just ironing out some production numbers and logistical issues at the moment..."

We are commited to getting offering Ians Auto up on our site as soon as we can the details worked out.

AC,

Aaron -

Is this remote module (KPT) spefically designed for the MINI? or is it more of a generic module for several different vehicles. Reminds me of the "Twindows" module from the late 80's - early 90's. The reason I ask - Does it maintain the MINI's function of th ewindow coming back down slightly after hitting the full up position?

Just curious-
Thanks-
Randy

I'm not sure of the lineage of this particular products circuitry, but it seems to have common characteristics with other vehicles....Is is, however, modified or tweaked to do the MINI's window thing.

As far as the windows going down when shut, I have to look into it.

From what I know Ian's circuit is more refined, but each has its merits and are completely different in function and features.

I have installed the remote windows/SR up about 3 wks ago and the the door open function still works perfectly (cracking the windows down sightly when opening the doors).

Thanks,
Ed

Now I don't feel so bad!!!

Ian had quoted this post over on his website announcing re-establishing his Mini circuits and I >>had<< to respond because I, too, bought one of the "last" circuits back on 8 Sep 05. However, I only ordered my MCS on 22 March and hope for delivery sometime during the first week of July!!! Does this qualify me as a Miniac?
