Another Ice link thread

Being my stubborn self,
I simply refuse to believe my H\K system will not display the songs my Ice link is playing for me.

I'm going to use this post to bounce info with all of you.

First question is, Who knows why my stereo should not display the info?
It does for the radio stations.

By the way my Mini is a 2004 build date approx Feb.
I'll get the numbers on my break today.
Tonight will be the download to try the latest firmware.

Cross your fingers!

Further info to Icelink

Alright here's my info from my H/K stereo:

S/N 40169763
SV-03-04 45
RI 00
Gal 4
DSP1 V33
TP-v o

the two top numbers seem to be what everyone has posted on other threads, but I thought I'd include most of everything that may pertain to info
regarding the stereo system.

There's a difference in the actual software that the radio runs. It is completely and totatly incapable of display the ID3 data from the ICELink... Just like your 2004 HU won't play MP3 CD's either...

You're more than welcome to try it, but it won't work. This isn't just a manufacturer putting out a disclaimer to cover themselves... it's been proven, it doesn't work.

Ok, ok I know Mbab.

I was hoping when I picked up my Mini last year in Vegas that the mp3's I burned would play. But I was quickly disappointed.
Good thing I brought Audio CD's too. The long drive to San Francisco would have been a lot longer!

I did try Dension's Version 2.b1 last night, it failed. Confirming my unit must be too old. Too bad I thought it would be great to have the display indicating which songs I'm playing.

The Ipod integration was nice working through my steering wheel controls.
I'll have to revert back to my original firmware. Right now i've got no response what so ever.

It was a hopful endeavor, but it failed.

If it was built after Jan 05 than it should work. There have been some sporadic reports of the text not working on some early Jan 05 builds, but I haven't heard any complaints about this on later builds.

Keeping in mind, if you have Nav this update does not work... It will actually cause problems...

YUP all,
I have to agree with Mbab.

However after my failed attempt to get a display, I've got to try and get my Ice link up and running the way it used to.

It seems that Dension has changed its web site and I'm having trouble finding the old firm ware. I'll search the other posts in this forum.

But would anyone have the files that I can borrow?
I've only got V2B1 on my computer at the moment.
I have a Macintosh if that changes the file format too.

By the way, Does anyone suppose Dension would be able or even try to get our older Mini's working with the display info working? Is it possible at all?

supposedly they are... But I take everything I hear from Dension with a HUGE grain of salt...

From the testing a NAM member did with the MINI HU, it's not possible to get any text beyond RDS and PTY data on the 2002 to early 2005 HU's except when it's expecting input from a Sirius or XM radio... He actually wrote some code and connected a PC up to the iBus in the MINI to test this. The radio only accepted text when it was expecting a satellite radio to be providing the input...

Ahh... I see.

I'm sure Dension has a very full plate at this time too.

I'll take that grain of salt for my margarita and stop worrying about it.

I just want my I pod tunes working again.

For any interested,

I just spoke with Tom at Dension Usa.

He was more than helpful to send me the newest version of Icelink plus.
2.07.

I did ask why there is no place to get firmware from the website any longer.
His reply was "too many people were downloading the wrong software"

So for the price of a phone call I got my Firmware.
Now to get my tunes back online......

I have left an email reply to him, I am checking to see if they may ever get
a version that will let our older H/K units display text.

That's funny, instead of changing their website so it makes better sense... Let's just pull the content off completely...
