I am currently using Osram silverstars on low beam and it performs very well. However, I used Philips Vision Plus before this and prefer Vision plus between the two. With vision plus, I can see the road signs at night easier, same range and brightness as Silverstars. The only downside to Vision plus was its lifetime, it only lasted one year for me. Hoever, if you are using the replacement for highbeam, I believe Silverstars will performs better.

We now offer Silverstars at the dealership from BMW/MINI......They are the standard 55w bulb you find in the car now but the light spectrum is as bright as a standard HID system.
Standard Halogen - 3200k
Cool Blue - 3500k
Silverstar - 4000k
Standard HID - 4100k
Aux HID - 5400k which is the same as daylight.

You can get European Osram Silverstars and Phillips VisionPlus from these guys in Knoxville - http://www.electricalconnection.com/...lb_euro-hl.htm I ordered the Phillips, and will let you know how it works out.
P.S. Don't tell anyone. I don't want the light police pounding on my door.

The 2 bulbs for the low-beams are H7's.
The 2 bulbs for the high-beams are also H7's.
I ordered 2 Phillips Vision Plus from electricalconnection.com, since my main concern was the performance of my low-beams, since the highs seemed ok. They arrived Thursday and I put them in Saturday. Installation is easy, and I carefully cleaned them up with the provided alchohol wipes before locking them in the slot. That evening, I took it out for a run to see if I could see a difference. OK, they're brighter, but still not good, so I take it home and decide to adjust them. What could I lose?
There are 2 6mm hex adjusting rods at the top of the headlight housing, and since you can't really adjust them unless the bonnet is up, I set up a piece of cardboard in the carport, and put a piece of masking tape at the top of the light with the lows on. Through trial and error, I raised both sides 2 full turns of the rods. Back out for a spin.
Eureka ! Now you might think, hmmm, talk about dim bulbs, this guy's headlights just needed adjusting, but remember this MINI is brand new, almost 4 months old, and it never occured to me that it would come out of the factory with the headlights pointed down at the road 40 ft in front of the car. Now the lights work like a MINI's should, visibility is now excellent. The Phillips bulbs, euro-version, seem to throw a wider beam, and that gives me a fighting chance to see the deer before they decide to cross the road.
I am watching closely to make sure other drivers don't complain and flash my lows, I would not want to do that. So far, so good.
I guess the bottom line is: check your headlight adjustment, you can't assume they're right. It took me about 6 trial and errors, and 6 trips around the back half of the county, but they're right now.
