2013 Taillights (to) 2007-2010 Tailights?

In the process of installing a hitch on a 2013 MC base (non-S). In the 2011 redesign, the backup lights were moved to the lower part of the bumper - where the pre-facelift had backup lights in the taillight housing.

Its been recommended to remove my backup light module while using the hitch. My problem is that my 1UP bike rack will spend most of its time on the car versus off the car. And the bulb out warning will be on the dash so I won’t ever know if I have another bulb out without checking all the time.

So here are the questions: First, does anyone know whether the 2007-2010 tailights will physically fit on the 2011-2013 MIni Coopers?; and second does anyone know whether the reverse lights work if 2007-2010 lights are installed on a 2011-2013?

If they will physically fit, I can probably wire up the reverse lights from the original LCI backup lights as long as blinker/running and brake lights already work.

Help!?!

John

I tried it and it doesn't work. When connected to a 2007-2010, the circuitry activates one of the lights and it looks like the brakes are on all the time. It also messes with the reverse lights.
