Electrical Has anyone used the BMWhat app for iPhone to successfully code there car?
I have a friend who said he was able to do this on his JCW. I was not able to do this on my 2012S. Could there be a difference along with the switch in engines that allows this to work on some car and not others?

I just received an email from Carly telling me that they have a beta version out for testing that will work with our engines. They sent me the link to download this but it looks half finished and I keep getting all kinds of warnings that the app didn't install fully and other processes stopping in the background. OK, at one point I did see the pop up that "engine identified" so that's a plus, even though the other errors popping up pretty much made it un-useable.
So I think its still a long way from being something I would purchase.
I have sent them a request. They will consider depending on the amount of people who request. I believe the update has fixed the can't find the engine issue. Mine is working ok now. For $50, its a good code reader and acceptable coding tool. Still, lots of things I would change/add/eliminate. Looks like a small outfit that is expanding their brands so MINI will be a small piece of the pie.............
An update to my earlier postings - the current version of BMW Carly now identifies the engine in my 2012 R56 LCI Cooper S
I was able to register a new battery (with the optional module). But I am still having some issues with the DRL coding and bulb check coding. So far I've only managed to get the parking lights to work as DRLs (oddly enough using the setting "Upper Fog light as DRL"). What I want is to use the actual fog light as DRL, but when I enable "Lower Fog light as DRL", I get the full xenon headlights on instead. Also I cannot code out the bulb check warnings for the parking lights, which is annoying as I have LED parking lights.

Would any of those address the bass filter they put on the rear speakers? The other post said that it is in the 2RAD ECU module.
How to resetting the module with NCS expert?
Maybe with time... or until I feel brave enough to try NCS.
this is why I bought it and returned it because it couldn't code out the parking light and also it was just too cumbersome that menu system is terrible.
Does the working car have auto-dimming exterior side mirrors? That may be what is needed for this to function... or maybe it is a BMW thing, not MINI specific.
My 2012 JCW has heated mirrors, auto-dimming interior mirror, but no auto-dimming on the exterior mirrors... and the dip while reversing does not work.

I will note that for what this app does do, it seems to do it well and for me it was worth it for the few things I was interested in having done.
Brake force display
Looked thru this thread and can't find an answer: has anyone been able to verify that activating brake force display in the Carly app actually makes the (selected) lights flash under hard braking?
My 2012 came from the factory with this already turned on. But, I didn't know I had it until someone told me about it when I was out on the track. Apparently you have to be on the brakes pretty hard to activate it. My guess would be that your 2014 Cooper already has it activated.

In the US, you will get brake force lights that come on under hard braking, but they don't flash like they do in some other countries. Just an extra light comes on (the turn signal light I think)
When you do have flashing encoded instead, on mine anyway, when do hard brake, they do flash, but I always get a lighting malfunction warning pop up. YMMV...
