Anyone able to get the gear shift indicator to work? I've played with the settings and no luck. Trying to get it to work to help the wife learn to drive a stick lol.

@othrside on the OBC you get the range to empty displayed and then press and hold the BC button.

Yeah, I' be interested to hear if this works.

Also, has anyone tried to use this to activate rear fogs after the switch is added to the panel?

TIA!

I don't think BMWhat has the option to activate rear fog. It is very easy to do with ncs expert though. I did it in about 20 min.

I noticed in the NCS expert DIYs that options for coding how DRLs act (ie just trim/edge lights on for DRL) aren't available for the 2007MY. I have an early 2007 and I'm wondering if the app is worth it if most of the options aren't available. does the app show you what coding changes are compatible or do you just have to try them out and see?

From my experience with BMWhat(carley)its try and see its, worked for me. I'm using the side market's(park lights) as DRL's.

What year mini do you have? Like I said, I have an early 07, I swear it was a practice build before they got all the parts right.

I think that it was sometime in 2011 that they came close to getting it right That is too long to practice

On another note...I see the app will register a new battery
It is worth it for just that; the MINI OEM battery is crap. My first one in my 2012 lasted 2 years. The one in my wife's MINI lasted ~4 years. I am sure my will need to be replaced in the near future and didn't want to have to pay the dealer to reset the computer.

I swapped my battery and didn't have to register anything.

Years in my SIG 2008. I liked that bit about practice, looks like practice didn't make perfect so have moved on to their own engine. Also changed my battery without registering no problems

Hi
I am ordering the dongle and the app. What did you do to get the position to work as drill. Does the "Sun" icon now show up in the BC setting?

Thanks
Ben

Got the wifi dongle and full app. I don't have the FRM module to code. Is this specific for certain car models. I have the R58.

Hmm.... I have a 2012 JCW R58 and the app allows access to the CAS, Kombi and FRM modules. What year is yours?

I have the 2012 JCW as well. When I connect it only shows the CAS and KOMBI ECU's. I will try it again tonight when I get home. Does it matter if Accessport is also programmed into my ECU?

Shouldn't matter unless your keeping the Access Port installed with a Y adapter. Then I could see it possibly causing a problem. Under settings on the app there are a few switches to adjust the com port. Might try changing the com speed or method settings in case the wifi adapter is having trouble keeping up.

Still doesn't give me FRM ecu coding. States it is not compatible. Are there cables that fit directly to the iPhone lightning port?

If you are using an Phone or iPad you should have the iCarly wifi donegle and connect through your wifi settings on your device.. With an Android device you use a usb cable and adaptor. In other words the adaptor you plug in the OBD II port on the Mini should be the iCarly/iViNi wifi version. After you start the car and plug in the adaptor go to settings on your device and select IVini or icarly as you wife connection then go into you app and tap connect and it should work. unless there are other problems. Do not plug your Apple device into vehicle us cables. Apple devices only work with the wifi OBD II donegal, that could be your issue.

Thanks Tom, yes I did all that. I can connect and code CAS and Kombi but does not give option to code FRM ecu. I emailed support and they said to try cable. I am not aware of OBD2 to lightning port cable that's why I asked.
