Replacing Mini HK Amp with a BMW HK Amp

Has anyone ever tried to exchange the Mini HK amp with an HK amp from a BMW?
I need a new amp, the Mini Amps for sale are very high and I noticed the BMW HK amps look the same, plug the same, will it work?
These amps can be bought daily for about 100.00 compared to 500.00 for a mini amp.
Thanks, Dave

I remember a previous thread on this subject. Not plug-n-play, as I recall.

The Mini HK is not compatible with the E46 HK amp.
