Newbie, needing some help finding resistor DIY guide

Hi,
Just bought my first mini, I bought a 2002 Mini Cooper S JCE
With 42000 garage kept.
It has two issues I need a little help with.
1.) horn not blowing, fuses are all good in both fuse boxes, what else can cause this?
2.) the inside the cabin ( blower motor resistor ) A/C fan has gone out, it runs intermintly then off so I got the correct part to replace but I an not sure what all needs to come out. Anyone that can give me instructions, or a DIY Guide to changing this part would be great. There's two resistors depending on rather or not the car has the (AutoAir) feature. My has the AUTOAIR digital temp readout
Can anyone help

Are you sure it's not a BC1 issue? The horn & A/C are all controlled by that module. It's behind the passenger side kick panel, opposite the driver side fuse box. Check for moisture. Have yet to encounter the A/C fan resistor fault.

The horn problem could also be inside the steering wheel, such as a broken contact or disconnected wire.

blower motor resistor

Kongfish,

You sent me a private message about the blower motor resistor. I tried to respond, but the site says you are not accepting messages. Makes it kind of pointless. Anyway, here is my response to your request for info on the blower motor resistor.

I no longer have the mini, so I can't take pictures. The blower motor resistor is behind the glove box. You need to remove the glove box to get to it. Once you remove, I think you will see it on the left. Not hard to replace. My scanner is broken, so I can't send you the appropriate page from the Bentley manual (page 640-15). Pretty simple though. Hope this helps. -- Hank.

HS,
Thanks for the reply, I tried to go into my user controls and set them so you could PM me, but I must have not got it right.
Anyway, on the resistor. Mine is the model with the AUTO AIR feature, and with that model, the resistor is totally different than the IHKS resistor. I have the IHKA version. My resistor isn't located in the location where the parts diagrams photos show it to be located.
I had to buy the REVISED version of the 2007, Bentley Service & repair Manual, to finally find any correct information on its location. For anyone that reads this post wanting to replace their IHKA blower Motor resistor. The basic instructions on doing so, is to remove the stereo, A/C controls, and all the stuff there in the middle, until you gain access to the main air duct opening, then you reach up in there and unplug it.
Tip- for those who have never disconnected a mini battery, you will have to reset your power windows according to the manual. And I'm not sure if the stereo has a security code but if it does need a code, you need to contact the mini parts dept. Before you undo your battery and get the code or you'll be locked out of your stereo.
Thanks,
HS for trying and replying,
Gary

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I have an IHKA ac system and think I need to replace the blower resistor.

It sounds like the resistor is not where the Bentley manual shows it to be and is difficult to access.

Kongfish, you seem to have learned a lot about this process. I tried to send you a pm, but the site says you've chosen not to receive private messages. May I ask you a few questions here?
