Switched 12V wire

Sorry if this has been covered here before. Interested to learn if anybody knows what color wire in the interior fuse box area would be good for my GPS?
I want it to go off when the ignition is turned off. I thought I had found a good candidate (white) but it goes off unless the A/C compressor is on, this is awesome for navigating in very hot weather but we have winter here too :-)

Anybody done this?

Use one of these and tap off a fuse in the fuse panel on the drivers side. I did it this way for my radar detector.

Just tap into the lighter circuit in the console. If you tug on the lighter socket, it just pops out of the hole giving you access to the switched wire below.
