Electrical RGB Ambient Mood Lighting Additions Mod
I would imagine it would have to be wired how you said. I've never been in an older MINI so I couldn't tell you for sure. Just pull your B pillar trim off and see how many wires are back there. I would imagine there would be 3 and two separate LEDs behind the lens. I'm not aware of a blue/amber LED with two diodes in the same piece.
I like the 15mm so far. I still have my 5mm if you wanna try em out.

Yes, But Its more like Red and blue.
Even though the LED consists of Red, Blue, Green, you will only be using the Blue and Red parts. Just identify what one is red/blue and basically discard the green line. I'll post some pictures. Still a very cool mod.

Hi,
I recently got a 2015 MINI Cooper S Countryman All4 and I was looking to do exactly this. I was wondering if your DIY would still work with this model before I go ahead and try it. I'm not sure how much MINI has changed with the ambient lighting over the past few years. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Nicholas, I'm not completely sure if they've changed anything but my guess would be no. Pop off your B pillar cover and check if it looks the same. As long as you don't short the wires together and pop a fuse, there isn't much that could go wrong.
So, it appears that the 2015 model doesn't have any ambient lighting in that location. In fact, all the ambient lighting is either in the doors, the center rail, or above the rear view mirror with the lighting controls. I'd very much prefer not to have to go about it through the door but if there was an easy way to access the wiring for the center rail, I think that might be a good way of doing it. Any suggestions?
