How invasive are those ghost lights? you will have to drill a hole in the door panel correct? and would you say to buy the more expensive ones because they are a better quality?

Overall how difficult of a job is it to install? I have already done a lot of mood lighting very similar to the stuff you have on the inside and Ive also done the engine bay. but will these ghost lights be above my expertise?

Simple. Pop the panel off, use the drill attatchment that comes with the box, and your good to go. I placed the hole towards back seat relative to each of the pre installed door lights. That way they don't shine so close to the car. I got 'official' branded ghost lights, and they're frigging hardcore. They weigh a ton, and their obviously super bright. BUT, I'm also a cheap bastard. If i didn't get these the first time because they were on sale, I totally would have gone with a chinese knock of from ebay, or just an 'unboxed' version and just waited to see what I got in the mail. To sum up, they are easy to install, look great, and at least the real ones are AWESOME quality.

Once again, if anyone wants em in the New England area, I can do an install and probably get them for cheap!

How much are the ghost lights worth? I found a source that sells them for about $70-80 boxed with the drill bit and all. Is that too much? too cheap?
Their regular price is $120, but $80 if I buy 2 sets.

From what I have found that is about what the manufacture charges if you are willing to take a little risk look on ebay and they are about 30-40 for a set. Im ordering some soon so I can let you know what I think of them.

I got my ghost lights for $60 during a promo when they FIRST came out. They're the legit ones, retail packaging, no knock offs. I'm sure there ARE knock offs somewhere, but the ones on ebay look pretty legit, just probably without the retail packaging. You really NEED the bit that comes with it, it's prime for door use, much better than a generic big *** bit. My thing with ebay, and i'm a huge ebay advocate, is make sure the ones you get from there are heavy. Heavy 'typically' means better quality, obviously with exceptions, but my ghost lights are heavy. They're nice, solid, heavy, and uber bright. Good luck, let me know the outcome!!!

This guy has a bunch of the ghost lights on eBay for $30 shipped. The MINI logo is #83.

They may be knock offs but all it is is a 3W LED behind a few lenses. They still look high quality and the designs are all the same.

They look pretty legit. I'd totally invest $30 to give it a try. I'm considering doing 1 on the engine facing up on the hood, and one on the trunk lid. Maybe i'll give these a try.
