Electrical/battery help

I was checking the cables on my battery and when I opened up the box, I noticed this electrical wire is sitting beside my battery. It is not connected to anything and can not determine what its purpose or what it is suppose to be connected to. Anyone know what the purpose is of this wire and where what does it need to be connected to. It recently (1 month ago) went in for service for a transmission fluid change and maybe someone forgot to plug it back in....

What problems is it causing to the MINI with it not being connected?
Can I reconnected it myself or is it complicated to fix?

Thanks

That wire appears to be for a cd changer....tough to tell from the pic, but looks like the connector.

+1 on Zippy's comment - looks like the CD changer connector, but as you've got a Cooper, that wouldn't make sense.

I was told that it looks like the battery charger connection and that this connection point comes with the vehicle and is usually pushed down into the battery box so it’s out of the way. I bought this car 2.5 years ago and had to get a new battery for it like a year and a half ago and never saw this cable when I put the new battery in there.
