Electrical Radar Detector Mount and Hardwire
Radar Detector Mount and Hardwire
Took a few minutes today to fabricate up a mount for my radar detector. Used the visor clip, bent it to a 90 degree angle and secured it to the back of the mirror using some 3M double stick tape. I figured I'd share for others looking for another option. I then used this thread, https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ew-mirror.html, to hardwire it up. SPLENDID!
Purchased a Beltronics Pro 500, hardwired and mounted above rear view mirror. The radar detector has GPS and while sometime signal acquisition takes a few minutes, the signal is pretty stable after acquisition.
Mounting:
I took the suction cups off the mount that came with the unit and used an EZ-Pass Velcro to attach to the windsheild (you can always call EZ-Pass and ask for extras). I added a piece of rolled duct tape on the mirror under the radar detector, to absorb vibrations.

I like the look. Very discrete.
Hardwire and Mute Button
I used this kit: http://www.safe-n-sound1.com/Beltron...th%20FUSE.html. Specifically, I used a Blade Fuse Tap to the cigarette lighter fuse (I bent it 90 deg in so the fuse cover would close well) and a flat mute button which I mounted in a place that is convenient to reach (below the stick shift right next to the left cupholder). For ground I used the screw on the right hand side of the glove box. I routed the power wire up the weatherstrip and then under the headliner (no disassembly required). The mute button went under/across the glove box and then under the cupholder console (required removal of the plastic panel on to the right of the center console/radio and removal of 2 screws inside cupholders to reach the final destination of the button). Works great!

Love the end result.

I have a V1 w/ the Concealed Display. The Concealed display is velcro'd to the headliner while the V1 is suction cupped behind the mirror. This setup for me is so much better, because 1 it doesn't obstruct my view of the road, and 2 it stays more hidden so any cops can't see it directly when they look into my vehicle.
Besides, with the way my Concealed display is mounted and hardwired up top, I can run a wire to the display so I dont have to look like a fool trying to reach over to silence it, AND with the visor down, the hole cutout in the visor doesn't obstruct it's view.

Yea very nice. Difference is I didn't have to tap into the fuse box.
