Electrical Door Handle LED voltage
Door Handle LED voltage
As I'm sure we're all aware, MINI did some pretty substantial upgrades to the R53 cars in 2005. Among the many changes were nifty little orange LEDs in the door handles. Subtle, but really nice!
I've successfully transplanted a pair of the newer handles into my '04 MCS. Now I'm in the process of wiring them up, and I'm curious if anybody knows the correct voltage for them. I'm assuming it's 12v, since that's the battery voltage and most of the other LEDs in the car are as well. I lost my voltmeter a while ago so I have no way of testing the wires on the donor car...
Oh, and for anybody who might be curious, MINI changed the door wiring harness as well, so the older cars are definitely NOT pre-wired for these!

Nobody knows?
Well, I grabbed a voltmeter at Home Depot last weekend, so I'll try to get around to this project over the next few days. Not sure if anybody's that interested, but I'll post my findings here.
