Switch Left Paddle Shifter?

Is there anyway to change it so the left paddle shifter in my Mini Countryman down shifts instead of both paddles shifting up? I know you press in to down shift, but I'd love it if I could pull with my left hand to down shift and right hand to shift up!

Thanks!

Sorry if it's a repost, I couldn't find any information on it here!

I don't think it can be done using the control module settings, but the experts will need to weigh-in.

An alternative approach would be to purchase the shift paddle assembly (#4 in the photo above) and experiment with the wires. The part number for the shift paddle assembly is #32309226805 but I don't know whether you will be able to purchase via the MINI parts department quite yet. An alternative (though not offering much better odds) would be to call the boneyards and see if anyone is parting out a wrecked R60 CMS.

Theoretically, with a bit of soldering, you might be able to get this to work...

I would think that if you disabled the upshift or downshift from one switch, then reversed the controls on the opposite switch, disabling the up or down shift, you should be able to set it up exactly like you want.

It might be safest to only reverse the wiring on the left paddle. If it were me, I wouldn't disable anything. Of course, my wife has a broken wrist and I am sympathetic to the one-handed right now. I guess I'd want to preserve both up and down shifting on each of the paddles, just reverse the left one. You never know...

Such a mod would be very cool. Reminds me of the paddles of my A3.
