Boot light switch?

Has anyone discovered a switch to control the boot light, so that if you want to leave the back hatch up for extended periods of time that you can turn off the boot light??? I cannot find such a thing, so I have disconnected the bulb.

As an alternative, has anyone been successful at installing such a switch if indeed there isn't already one there???

Thanks,

I don't know if this works in the newer models, but in my 05 cabrio, just pull the button that the hatch hits to turn the light on & off.

When the button is pulled, it clicks & the light turns off. Press it in (as the hatch would do when you close the boot) and the light turns back on.

I know I'm in the wrong forum (stumbled in here by accident) but on my R56 the hatch light turns itself off if you leave the hatch open for more than about 30 min. Try just leaving the hatch open and see what happens.

Yes! My 2012 Countryman does the same thing.
